Consultation for Looked After and Adopted Children
It is an opportunity to consult with an expert about a particular issue. Such as;
- Explosive anger
- Challenging behaviour
- Competitiveness between children
- “Targeting” of particular residential staff
These can be delivered as a one-off but many of the agencies, local authorities etc. that we work with prefer to provide whole-day or half day consultation surgeries comprising several one hour consultation slots.
TCPS will deliver these clinics at the venue of your choice although it is important that we have somewhere private.
We provide consultations to Professionals such as Social Workers, Teachers and Health Visitors as well as offering this service to foster carers and adopters. We provide a written summary of what is discussed in the consultation session and the action plan agreed.
We can offer consultation in the following formats. Alternatively we can deliver something more bespoke to meet the needs of you and your organisation.
We offer a range of consultation packages and we can create something bespoke for you if you’d prefer. Get in touch and we’d be happy to discuss your consultation needs with you.
Option 1: Drop-In Surgeries
We come to you for a day or a half day and foster carers/adopters are free to drop in to discuss emotional and behavioural issues relating to their children.
Option 2: Appointment-Based Surgeries
We come to you for a day or half a day to see the staff/carers/adopters that you book in for an hour long-slot each.
Option 3: Group-Based Consultations
We liaise regarding the issues that most often impact upon your staff/carers/adopters and offer a series of half day group consultation sessions focussed around a different problem area each session.
If you are based in Staffordshire, Birmingham and the Black Country, Derbyshire, Shropshire, Leicestershire, Warwickshire or Northamptonshire just give us a call or send us an email to find out more. We also offer many of our services nationally throughout the UK.

“I have never felt criticised or undermined in consultation sessions. I have always felt valued as a professional and that my knowledge base is respected. Consultation always acknowledges the skills already present and builds on them”
